No Angolan company receives more requests for sponsorship than Sonangol. Besides being the largest contributor to the State's budget, the oil company has undertaken the responsibility of implementing a vast number of social projects in an effort termed, "Together with the Community."

Cabinda was the province that benefited most from the countless projects, more than three dozen at last count, and in 2003 absorbed more than six million dollars in the areas of health, education, culture, sports and agriculture.

Improvement of the standards of living, principally in the question of housing, for Sonangol's workers is a constant issue for the Administration Council and a reality in terms of the efforts taken on by the group with the aim of better resolving problems in that area.

Under the PCA's letter n 175/GPCA/99 a commission for Social Projects was created which accounts for contractual conditions, monthly budget statements and depreciation schedules.

Under this social policy, the housing complexes known as "GEPA" and"NOVOS BAIRROS", located in Morro Bento, Corimba and Golfe-Camama respectively, have been created.

Another social improvement measure aimed at responding to the needs of Sonangol workers is the "Cooperativa Cajueiro", a mutual aid society that is building housing for Sonangol employees.
